The Volunteer Committee Outstanding Volunteer Award

In 1993 the Ontario Crafts Council established the OCC Volunteer Service Award to recognize volunteers who have shown outstanding dedication to the Ontario Crafts Council. Up to three awards are presented annually. Recipients must be members of the Volunteer Committee. Staff and OCC committee members may submit nominations and a nominator's statement to the Board of Directors.
The OCC is proud to announce this year's recipients of the Volunteer Committee Outstanding Volunteer Award: Jane Allen and Ingrid Laidlaw.
Jane Allen
Jane joined the Volunteer Committee of the OCC in 2202. Over the years she has provided strong ongoing support in the office of the OCC. She has been particularly helpful as she brings excellent computer skills. She currently helps with the maintenance and update of Crafts Flash.
In addition to the above, she served as membership coordinator for the VC for 2 years. She is currently the Secretary of the Executive Committee and the full Committee of the Volunteer Committee. She writes clear and accurate minutes of our proceedings. They are always done promptly after each session.
Overall, Jane demonstrates professionalism in everything that she undertakes.
Ingrid Laidlaw
Ingrid joined the Volunteer Committee of the OCC in 2004. Over the years she has been an “enthusiastic “ambassador for The Guild Shop. She has worked at the Shop regularly showing great interest in the work and the crafts people showcased at the Shop.
In the spring of 2008, she organized with the help of others a very successful fundraising bridge tournament.
In addition to the above, she has been involved for four years with the program bringing crafts people to the monthly meeting of the Volunteer Committee assuming full responsibility for the last two years. This responsibility entails a lot of planning and logistical coordination.
Her enthusiasm will continue to be infectious with both the volunteers and the staff of the OCC.
