Apply for over $25,000 in Awards and Scholarships

For over 30 years the OCC has helped build craft careers through awards of excellence.  It’s worth your time to apply; 25% of applicants last year won an award, scholarship or supply grant. Over 100 scholars have been the beneficiaries of OCC scholarships and more than 400 craftspeople have benefited from a grant or award.

Whether you’re a student looking to continue your studies or an established maker looking for some recognition or aid in mounting an exhibition,  with such a wide range of awards there’s something for everyone, in every stage of their career.

Winning is not just about the money, it’s also about exposure. Selected works from award recipients will be featured in the OCC Awards Winners '12 exhibition held at the Ontario Craft Council Gallery in 2012. Winners will also be considered for publication in Studio magazine, Craftfl@sh and the Canadian Crafts in Toronto brochure.

NEW IN 2012!! This year we are introducing a special dedicated event to celebrate Ontario’s craft talent and showcase our winners and their work.  Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Awards and Scholarships Gala Ceremony on October 4, 2012.  More details to come…

HOW TO APPLY

Once the Call-for-Entry is released (early January each year), download the Standard Application Form below, along with the Image and Biographical Information Templates.  The Form outlines all the required submission materials.  We also encourage you to download and review the FAQ file before contacting the OCC with questions or concerns.

Important Application Notes

• Applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple awards and scholarships. Use one application package for all.
• Recipients from the last 2 years are ineligible to apply for the same award or scholarship they received.
• Applicants with outstanding final reports from previous years will not be accepted for consideration until receipt of the report.
• The jury reserves the right to grant no award if, in their view, no applicants were worthy. Incomplete application packages will not be adjudicated.
• Completed application packages must be received at the OCC Administrative Office by the time and date note above.  Postmarked applications will not be accepted due to time constraints.  Due to volume of application, packages will not be returned.
• Be sure to include DATES in your biographic information!!!!

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

*NEW THIS YEAR!* Starting in 2012 you can submit your application 2 ways:
1) Traditional hardcopy via Canada Post or hand delivery -follow the instructions in the Application Form.
2) Online through Dropbox. If you'd like to submit online you can find information, FAQ and a step-by-step instructions for doing so by downloading the following two documents:

REPORTING

Some award recipients may be required to submit a report of activities as a condition of their award.  Should your award be amongst these few, your award package will include a reporting form.  Please note that future applications will not be accepted before the completion of any outstanding final reports. 

2011 REPORT DEADLINE: January 16th, 2012
Recipients should return their report form and supporting materials via hard mail or email to Caitlin Plewes at cplewes@craft.on.ca
